More Fun with a Mission

Gawad Kalinga friends and advocates have created mission-inspired posters out of their photos taken at GK Villages and events, riding on the new Philippine Department of Tourism slogan “ more fun in the Philippines”.

The DOT invited the public to complete the sentence to show the world that the Philippines is not only a scenic, historic  and adventure destination but a fun place to be because of its people.

“ Filipinos can promise a more heartfelt and interesting experience. Wherever you go, whatever you do in the country, it’s the Filipinos that will complete your vacation and will make your holiday unforgettable,” says the new Tourism Secretary, Ramon Jimenez, Jr.

Many have indeed praised the Filipinos as being gracious hosts and have wondered how they can maintain their sunny dispositions and be generous despite the hardships and the poverty.  Good or bad, Filipinos find humour in every situation, as shown by the unofficial posters that have been posted on the internet and viewed globally by thousands.

DIY poster was created by Junnie Arreza of Couples for Christ. The photo was taken at a GK Village in Gasan, Marinduque during the GK Youth Build in 2007.

Changing Lives poster used a photo taken by British-Filipino actor Rachel Grant who has become a Human Nature Global Ambassador.
